xploderz-status:

Unfortunately I recognized that large parts of the code are just to hardcoded and not dynamic enough. The ratio of the code-complexity to the effect one can feel is simply too huge.
In its most complex phase xploderz has been consisted of 18,000 lines of code. I had the idea to make the code more dynamic and the complexity has fallen down to 14,000 lines of code promptly.
That has been easy. To apply even more "dynamics" the investement of time would be far bigger, so...

After some long and intense thinkabout-sessions I've decided to quit work on the current version. Rewriting is the motto for now.
Coding will be far more strictly; new classes, pieces of code et cetera will only be written if absolutely necessary. Generally it will be strictly object-oriented.
The implementation of a new weapon was as difficult as the creation of a level, meaning I had to write big bunches of code. So that will be parameterized
Raytracing-Techniques like Kd-trees and maybe photon-mapping will be used.

Release

When it's done ;) Estimated lines of code: 7.000-10.000. For sure I can copy+paste some piece of code from the current xploderz. I am definitely motivated to fulfill the work. It has been shown that several people are interested in making levels or music for xploderz. That's great, especially I'd like to thank yadu for his good ideas and Dariush+Marcel for their cool tunes!

The xploderz-team got some new members: deja_vu, LJ_1102 and jph on level-design and Hanatarou making some freezin' music! They come from Germany, Canada, USA and even India...haven't thought it would become that international...

Maybe you wanna sign up, too?

There's not much new public information, but I can say: we're working on it!

After years I finally release information about xploderz. Not that I've been working on it so long, I just don't found the time ;)

So, what is xploderz?
In it's core it is a kind of bomberman ported to the third dimension. It contains also some 1st-person-shooter elements and some running and hiding like in metal-gear-solid.

The game is de facto ready for release. I'm looking for people who may want to make some levels, designs, skyboxes, sounds, music etc.
